Dr. Peter Gerhardt
We are excited that our keynote speaker this year will be Dr. Peter Gerhardt. He is a dynamic presenter that has more than 30 years’ experience utilizing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis in support of individuals with autism spectrum disorders in educational, employment, residential and community-based settings. Dr. Gerhardt is the author or the coauthor of many articles and book chapters on the needs of adolescents and adults with ASDs and has presented nationally and internationally on this topic. Dr. Gerhardt is the founding chair of the Scientific Council for the Organization for Autism Research (OAR) and currently sits on numerous professional advisory boards including Behavior Analysis in Practice, the Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies, the Association of Professional Behavior Analysts, and the Autism Society of America.  He received his doctorate from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, Graduate School of Education.


Hallie Hovey Murray

Hallie is a speaker, author, and advocate.  She is a 2016 graduate of Southern Methodist University, where she obtained a B.A. in History. During her time at the Hilltop, Hallie was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority, served as President of the Debate Team, and was a Founder’s Scholar. After she graduated from SMU, she followed her childhood dream of attending law school and is currently a rising second-year student at William and Mary Law School. At William and Mary Law, she is the current president of the Children’s Advocacy Law Society, a Leadership Fellow and serves as Vice President of Communications for the William and Mary Law School Federalist Society chapter. On December 3rd, 2017, Hallie was crowned Miss Historic Hanover and will be competing for Miss Virginia in June 2018. As Miss Historic Hanover, she has traveled across the Commonwealth of Virginia promoting and speaking about her platform, One in 68: Ending the Stigma of Autism.

Continuing Education

Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) and Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts (BCaBA): Commonwealth Autism is a Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) provider. Type 2 Continuing Education Credits will be available for both days of the conference. 

Virginia Teacher Licensure Renewal Points: Teachers can earn up to 5 points per day for attending this conference.  Participants will receive a certificate of attendance that specifies the hours attended.   Please see the Virginia Licensure Renewal Manual for a complete list of criteria for professional conferences.
