Operational Strategies | Commonwealth Autism Service

                      Problem Statement

The current autism service system in the Commonwealth of Virginia is incomplete.

  • There still exists inadequate awareness, knowledge and funding for the true needs of the soon to be more than 75,000 Virginians with autism.
  • It is not prescriptive for the special needs of individuals affected by this disorder.
  • It lacks capacity (i.e., funding, trained service providers, implementation of evidence-based practice, ) necessary to serve this growing population across all stages of life.

Values

The mission of Commonwealth Autism Service is built on a foundation of values that inform each and every practice of the organization.

  Summary

Commonwealth Autism Service endeavors to continually assess the current service system for autism in the Commonwealth and articulate a vision for a comprehensive system.

By overlaying the current against the ideal, we then are able to visualize service gaps and work with partners to close those gaps, thereby moving closer to our stated mission.
