The applicants must have experience in the following: FBA’s, curriculum assessments, instructional design/implementation, developing and implementing Positive Behavioral Support Plans, staff training/coaching, clinical supervision of BCBA and/or BCABA candidates, program monitoring, etc. Master’s Degree in ABA or related field. Job Description: The Blue Ridge Autism Center is a growing non-profit center located right outside of Roanoke, Virginia. The center provides ABA services to children, ages 2-12, consultation and supervision to local school districts, home programs and trainings throughout Southwest Virginia/West Virginia. This center strives to provide the best quality programming for the autism population and their families. As in most areas, the need is significant. The school is in search of an administrator, preferably a licensed Special Education Teacher, interested in the autism population, aiming to work to transition students to general education environments. This center is interested in perspective employees who are truly dedicated to improving the quality of life for those challenged with autism spectrum disorders. This is an administrative position in which you would be a supervisor in the center.

The Virginia Institute of Autism (VIA) in Charlottesville seeks a Chief Program Officer committed to evidence-based practice and the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA). The primary roles are to develop, oversee and ensure the quality of programming across the Institute’s James C. Hormel School, which serves up to 30 students with autism, preschool through post high; ensure the quality of and staff fidelity to behavior support plans; and work collaboratively with the Program Director for Student Instruction to review, select and evaluate assessment tools, curricula and IEPs.
Minimum Requirements:
Master’s degree in education, special education, psychology or other relevant field; board certification in behavior analysis (BCBA); and at least five years experience overseeing educational programming for children with autism. Experience with adolescents and in center-based programs preferred.

About VIA
The Virginia Institute of Autism offers four main services: a special education day school, home-based early intervention programs, training for parents and professionals and consultation for public schools.
The primary goals of the James C. Hormel School are to enable students to participate more meaningfully in family and community life and to develop skills necessary for success in less restrictive educational environments. Goals and objectives are developed using a team approach, involving parents and family members, VIA teachers and program directors, public school teachers, related services personnel and job coaches. The School currently provides a 12-month education program for 26 students between the ages of 3 - 19, although VIA is approved to provide services for up to 30 students through age 22. VIA's educational program utilizes teaching procedures based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and makes use of specialized teaching strategies which address the unique learning characteristics of students with autism. Basic learning-to-learn skills, receptive and expressive language skills, academic, social, self-help, leisure, community living, health and safety, and vocational skills are taught through a variety of individualized strategies. These include intensive one-on-one teaching such as discrete trial instruction and incidental teaching, dyadic and group instruction and teaching within naturalistic settings, using techniques individualized for each learner and rich in positive reinforcement. Instructor-to-student ratio is one-to-one or one-to-two, with instruction taking place in either individual or group classrooms with up to seven students. VIA is committed to objective, data driven analysis of behavior and to using a variety of behavior analytic strategies to teach new skills and to increase socially validated behaviors.

The Summer PLUS program is an interactive extended school year program which is thematically based. The students attend the seven week program from 9:00AM to 1:00PM, Mondays through Thursdays. Themes include Carnival week, Sports week, etc. Students have a weekly field trip to a fun and interactive location. Concentration on language and social goals are the focus, as well as data collection in these areas. Program includes typical peer models as well as ASD (autism spectrum disorder) students. We end the summer with a pool party and cookout where we show off our songs, etc!

SOUTHEASTERN COOPERATIVE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS (SECEP) is a regional public school agency which provides services for students with special needs. SECEP is located in the Hampton Roads area of southeastern Virginia. The classrooms are within the public schools Sites are located in Norfolk, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Franklin, Southampton and Isle of Wight. The administrative offices are in Norfolk.
SECEP is currently interviewing and hiring for an Assistant Director, Principal and an Education Specialist for the Autistic Children’s Program (ACP).
The Autistic Children's Program (ACP)serves children who exhibit characteristics of autism, or developmental disabilities with communication and social skills deficits. This program utilizes structured skill-oriented training tailored to the student's strengths and weaknesses, with particular emphasis given to communication, vocational and social skill curricula.
The Assistant Director will be working with students in the ACP and EBICS programs. These programs serve students with autism, mental retardation and severe behavior problems. The job duties will include participation on SECEP's central leadership team, supervising principals in multi-site and multi-district locations, developing and implementing program initiatives and professional development. Minimum qualifications include a master’s degree in special education or school administration, three years of direct experience with students exhibiting one of the handicapping conditions described above, and administrative experience.
The Principal provides leadership for a number of classrooms located in school sites within the eight school districts SECEP serves, and is responsible for SECEP identified outcome measures, including supervising all areas of academic and behavioral programming, teachers and support staff and supporting positive interfaces with parents, schools, and the community. Minimum qualifications include a master’s degree in school administration, special education or a related field, two years of leadership experience at the administrative or specialist level, plus a total of three years of direct experience working with special needs students.
This Education Specialist is responsible for curriculum development, instructional leadership, and support to the classrooms and students. This individual must be knowledgeable in research based teaching strategies. Qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Education, and two years direct experience in education.
